It's a PMS Baby Shower!

If you're following along the hop, then you already know that the PMS team is having a special "baby shower" for our very own Lisa McKinney today. She is due with baby #2 any minute now LOL and we just HAD to celebrate with her. If you've just come from Bonnie's Blog you're on the right track and you're almost done!

To Lisa: Congratulations! It seems like just yesterday you announced your pregnancy and here you are at the end already! Little Justin is a lucky boy being born into such a loving family that obviously wants him so much. You've enjoyed this pregnancy so much, I know you will truly enjoy every minute of being Justin's Mom.

I don't have a lot of call to make baby cards anymore...most of my friends are into the potty training stage now, or further, and are NOT going back LOL. So, I have very few baby images...but I did find this one Kayleigh, which was a charity stamp released by PMS about a year ago. The sentiment is SU from a couple of years ago.

If you didn't start at the PMS Blog, then you've missed a lot of great baby cards and you really should go back to the beginning. If you're ready for the next "blop" then head on over to Andrea's blog to see what she's cooked up. OH YEAH... and if you haven't already, please check out my top post for some PMS blog candy--deadline is only a week away!

PMS M4TW - Stash It

It's my first time hosting the Makeup 4 The Weekend Challenge at PaperMakeup Stamps and I'm challenging everyone to fill up their "stash" of cards. Make a set of matching cards that you can keep on hand for those card-engcies (you know...card emergencies). I have a HUMONGOUS stash of cards already, but I know a lot of people make cards just when they need one, so I thought this would be a helpful challenge to get you a bit ahead during the summer :)

For my set, I chose the Tweet Things set from July's PMS release. I used Baja Blue and Night of Navy ink, paper and ribbon. I used the same layout for each card and just mixed up the images and sentiments. A little set like this takes about 20 minutes to put together and would make a lovely giftie for someone...maybe a teacher...a babysitter... a friend who needs a pick me up?

Head on over to the PMS Blog now to see who else has taken the challenge with me and see what they've created. I would love for you to join me this week...I will be visiting all the participants to see what you've done!

SCS Featured Stamper Challenge

It's been a loooong time since I played in a challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com, but this week's Featured Stamper really spoke to me. Her gallery was full of fabulous CAS inspiration that I could easily see translating into stamps that I had on hand. HERE is the card I decided to case from Ravengirl this week. As per the FS Challenge rules, I changed two things: color scheme and stamp. This lovely silhouette image is from Paper Makeup Stamps Dandy Wishes, just released in July. Thanks for stopping in to take a peek today...don't forget about my blog candy above...and stay tuned as this weekend marks the start of a hugely busy blogging week for me :)

Sentimental Sunday Challenge

I love Jodie's sassy ladies at Bugaboo. They naturally go with soooo many awesome sentiments. This one is one that I found at TLC Creations a while back. Paulette posts so many freebies on her blog that I can't keep up with them all. If you like digi word art, you really need to check her out...she even takes requests!

This card was made for Sentimental Sundays Challenge #13 "It's all fun and games"...make a playful or funny card. Now, I have to say that while I used a TLC word art on this card, Sentimental Sundays owner Ann (raindropecho) posts fabulous free word art regularly on the blog...I have many of hers also downloaded.

ETA: Don't forget Jodie's Moving Sale at Bugaboo...50% off until July 31st!

ETAA: Take a second to pop on up to the top post of my blog and enter my blog candy :)

Sparkle's Christmas Challenge

Sparkle's challenge this week is to use a wreath in your card. I'm quite enjoying following along at her Christmas Challenge...maybe I'll actually have my cards ready to go on time this year! This wreath is from High Hopes Stamps and the sentiment is from Stampin Up! I colored it with SU Markers and shaded with a grey Touch Marker. What did this project teach me??? That I need a new Real Red & Garden Green marker with non-fuzzy tips LOL

Corrosive Challenge: Pink & Blue

Today's challenge at Corrosive is to use pink & blue as the focus of your card. There are some awesome creations by the DT over on the blog, and don't forget today is the last chance to enter for this month's prize. This is one of my favorite images from Bugaboo...Jodie's ladies and sentiments are just hilarious...I've used this one many, many times. And...hey...Jodie is having a 50% off sale this week only! So hurry on over and pick up some sassy ladies for yourself!

Raising the Bar with PMS again

Hmmm...this two challenges on one day thing is working out for me! I'm combining the Makeup 4 the Weekend challenge with Raise the Bar again!

Today's M4TW is to use Notebook Paper in your creation. I had a couple of options, but being me, I chose to use the scrap that was in my scrap bin already, rather than cut into a new sheet of paper. These papers are from my K&Co Wild Saffron stack...one of my FAVS (do I say that much?) The bird cage and sentiment are from the July release of Paper Makeup Stamps.

Joni's challenge at Raise the Bar this week is distressing...ripped, torn, crumpled or broken...just some type of "imperfection". I've got a little crumpling and some tearing happening here :)

I don't know what "style" of card this would be called, but it's not my normal style that's for sure. I think it's missing something...not full enough, but I couldn't figure out what else to add...any suggestions from someone who does this style? LOL

Corrosive Challenge Day

Today's challenge at Corrosive Challenge is to use Cartoon Characters. I chose Mo Willems' Pigeon for my card. If you're looking for some great books for your kids, Pigeon is a hit! We love "Don't let the Pigeon Stay up Late"...and all the others too :) And he is a perfect match for these silly birds from Basic Grey...can't remember the name of the line of paper.

Raise the Bar with Makeup 4 the Weekend

It challenge day for me again and today I've managed to combine my Raise the Bar duties with my Paper Makeup duties! YES! That cute little hummingbird & sentiment are from the July release of Paper Makeup Stamps.

Today's Makeup 4 the Weekend challenge, put forth by Tina Hale, is to incorporate felt into your project. The ONLY felt I have is one package of felties to match my BG June Bug paper pack that I won in Michelle's blog candy a while back. So, I had no choice, I had to do something with June Bug paper. Flipping through the stack, I thought this sheet would be perfect for the new Hummingbird, who could be "drinking" from a flower...and VOILA! Add a sentiment and you're good to go! I love the font for this sentiment. Funny enough...the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday #75 is also to use felt this week...VOILA!

Joni's challenge at Raise the Bar is I Do! Use something old (navy cardstock), something new (the hummingbird stamp), something borrowed (my paper stack from Michelle), and something blue (cardstock & the button feltie).

I love the challenge of purposely trying to make my two assignments work together :) I hope you'll come play along at one, or both, of these challenges this week!

Card Patterns Double Take

I was soooo happy to see this week's Card Patterns sketch. I had some square, woven quilts I made a long time ago and never used, so this was the perfect chance to use them! I just needed to find a couple of images that were small enough to fit in the corner. First up, I did the cute sheep from Sugar Nellie (it was a freebie a couple weeks ago). I can't get the colors on this one to show up very well, but the dp is Sage Shadow, Pale Plum and Celery and the card is Handsome Hunter. I love using sheep on a card after a long day of coloring because they take very little coloring! This card went together really fast and I quite like it, even though Sage & Hunter are two of my least favorite greens. This sentiment is from Whimsie Doodles.

My next card uses the Peacock from the July release at Paper Makeup Stamps. I paper toled this one by popping up the body and then the wing on pop dots to give it dimension. Again with the bad colors...I have a hard time getting dark colors to show up properly. These colors are Baja Breeze, Perfect Pear and Not Quite Navy.

Sparkle's Christmas Challenge

Yup...I really did make more than one Christmas card this week. This one started out as a submission for a magazine call...but I missed the deadline...ooopsy. Oh well, now you get to see it! I still had copious scraps from my DCWV Christmas Stack on my table, so I kept going with them, trying to use them up so I can justify buying a new Christmas Stack this year LOL. Sparkle's Christmas Card challenge this week was to use sewing on your card. It took me longer to clean off my sewing table and find my sewing machine than it did to actually make this card! But now it's done and my machine is out where I can use it more often. I really do love sewing on cards. Thanks for the push Sparkle!

This stamp is, of course, Holly from Paper Makeup Stamps. And oh yes, she is a fairy, so I'll link her up at Danni's Flutterby Wednesday open challenge for her "comeback" week LOL.

YNS DT Call

So....I've been following Cabio's blog now for about a year...met her on SCS like most of my other "pretend" friends LOL. If you don't know Cabio, you really, really need to go check out her amazing work. She's currently on the DT for YNS and has inspired me to apply for their current DT call. Their cute little girl Fhiona reminds me of my DDs so much that I'm sure I could use a few dozen stamps of her :) Anyhow...the application process is easy...all's I have to do is this post, with 3 of my best creations...hmmm...ok...maybe not soooo easy. How do you choose your own best work???

Well, this window card is definitely one of my more recent favs...y'all know I love my PMS!

Oh...I forgot about this one from Flourishes. I love this pink Iris...do Irises even come in hot pink?

Ooooo...then there was my stepper card phase :) Just for Joni, here is the most time consuming card EVER, which now resides at PMS Headquarters LOL.

So wish me luck! And heck...why not apply yourself?

Bugaboo Scrappy Sketch

I had the BEST day full of inky fun today. I got something ridonculous like 8 cards done for assignments and challenges! I did a few Christmas ones for some of the Christmas in July Challenges that are going on right now...and this Bugaboo card is one of them.

I used the Scrappy Sketch #40 on the Catch the Bug Blog and played with this week's freebie image from Bugaboo for their Jingle Bells challenge as well!

Sweet Sunday Sketch

One of my new favorite sketch challenges is Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch. Oh...it's not really new...but I haven't played there a whole lot. Karen has great sketches and wonderful cards for inspiration...plus...she designed that cool watermark I use on my photos! This card was made for her Sweet Sunday Sketch #77. I also wanted to play along at PlayDateCafe, which I haven't done for a while. They have an inspiration challenge up right now and it's a "provencal" shelf full of fabulous colored pottery. When I was flipping through my stack of pre-printed digis I found this VanGogh coloring page image that I hadn't tried yet and looky looky...there is a pot of sunflowers in the inspiration photo! I wasn't sure it was going to work with the colors of Copics I have, but I think it did!

A Corrosive PMS Review

Finally, finally, finally I got to play with "Dandy Wishes" from the Paper Makeup Stamps July release. I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw this stamp set, which is designed by Lindsay Spencer. There are just soooo many possibilities! My very first thought for this set was "OOOOOOH...that would be perfect for stamping with bleach". I've never actually done the bleach technique. So, one night, I scurried to the basement to find my bleach (why wasn't that in my craft room already...it certainly doesn't need to be near the laundry) and got bleaching. If you try this at home, you need to know that the results are unpredictable...you can't be sure what color your paper will turn. Some colors don't change very much (in my case Tempting Turquoise was barely noticeable). Other colors go quite white. And then you get something like Soft Suede that turns a lovely shade of unmatchable yellow...something between Delightful Daffodil and More Mustard (ok... you can take the girl out of SU, but it takes forever to get the SU out of the girl!) I stamped the smaller dandelion silhouette three times with bleach and this is the result:

Now today is also Corrosive Challenge Day, so I had to do another card because I couldn't seem to make the bleached image work with the Corrosive Sketch :( When I was playing with the bleach I noticed that the dandelions kind of resembled fireworks when they were bleached. Maybe I'm still in celebration mode from Canada Day...wishing we hadn't gotten rained out for our fireworks that night. Anywho... I pulled out my markers to make some fireworks and here's what happened:

See the super cute, matchy-matchy pink dp? I stamped that with the two little fluff seeds that come in the Dandy Wishes set! And this sentiment is an earlier PMS release...it's a classic stamp that works really well with the new set.

Do you recognize these colors yet? I know I've seen this combo absolutely everywhere this week. That's because this is the Color Throwdown 100 combo and they're having a HUMONGO celebration. It starts with the blog hop on the CTD Blog where you can win some of $1700 worth of prizes (like the PMS July release!) just for commenting on each designer's blog. Plus, you can play along and submit your own creation with these colors. As an added bonus, Paper Makeup Stamps is supporting the party with a prize on the PMS Blog if you use PMS Stamps to make your CTD creation. WHEW...that's a lot of prizes! You only have until midnight TONIGHT to make the rounds for the commenting prizes...so get going!

Now if you were having issues on the PMS site when you tried to order, those problems should be all cleared up now, so please try again! And don't forget to use your blog hop code for the 15% discount!

Raise the Bar for Sugar Cookie Day

Joni is asking everyone to celebrate National Sugar Cookie Day this week at Raise the Bar -- just use something baking-related on your project. A customer of mine gave me a BOX of really old Paper Pizzazz papers to donate to my preschool and told me to keep anything I thought I could use...well...most of the papers were pretty ugly, but I pulled out a few sheets of candy/cookie patterns. Don't those chocolate chips in the background look real? It's paper! So, while I don't have much for baking stamps, I did have these papers and one great digi sentiment from my time on the DT at Digiments (sorry, Michelle no longer makes her Digiments). I really wanted to focus on the cookie paper, so I kept the card really simple...just added some of that delectable SU satin ribbon.

Since today is my first weigh in for my new diet, these are the only cookies I'll be seeing for a while...so enjoy! Come celebrate Sugar Cookie Day at Raise the Bar this week with us...I'll give ya a cookie ;)

It's a Beauty Hop with PMS!

Welcome to the Beauty Hop for Paper Makeup Stamps! We're previewing the July release today in preparation for the big party tonite. If you've found your way over from Tina's blog then you're on the right track...and you're nearing the end. If you've just popped in her 'cuz you love me and can't miss a single thing I do...then you really need to start from the beginning at the Paper Makeup Stamps Blog. Have you picked our your favourite new set yet? If you have, then I'm here to show you why you neeeeeed "Kiss and Makeup", too!

The first reason you need this set is for the LIPS! I swear it looks like Katie herself kissed the molds to make this stamp LOL. There are two sizes of lips so you can kiss any thing...any size...or all over like I did here. I still had my Bo Bunny papers out, so I decided to use up some of the scraps on my cards for today...I know purple and red is a "red hatter" thing, but I thought this damask paper looked kinda sexy and built my card around those colors...I used the new In-Color Concord Crush from SU and Rose Red. I used white embossing powder for the sentiment to make sure it really stood out on the printed paper. The sketch I used is from a new-to-me challenge: Cards & Things #39.

Now this card took advantage of my original idea for the lips... embossing powder...I used burgandy embossing powder to give the lips a wet & luscious look that just doesn't come across on screen...oh well. The smaller lips stamp is the perfect size for a little embellishment on a card... or for the back of an envelope. This sketch is for Technostamper's Monday Lunchtime Sketch #129. I cheated just a bit because my scrap of paper had all these strips in it...I didn't have to piece them together Tee Hee.

So...big lips...little lips and some "punny" sentiments...I just know this is your favorite set now...isn't it? Ok...I'll give you till the end of the hop to decide. Now you need two things to continue on your way. First, my letter for your 15% discount code on anything in the July release is

And second, you need to know that your next blop (ha ha...that's my new made up term for blog stop) is the "stylin" Ginger. Now, should Blogger be actin' up again today and a link is broken, the full hop schedule is on the Paper Makeup Stamps Blog for your convenience.

Are you ready for tonight's release party festivities? I sure am...it's my first party as a DT member for PMS...I've only missed one or two of Katie's parties, so this will be a new experience for me and I'm very excited to be part of the "behind the scenes" work for this release. I hope you will come join the fun in the PMS Forum at 8 pm CST (10 pm Atlantic)...there's always lots of gabbing and gaming...and usually lots of talk about food :)

Have a beautiful day!

PMS Sneak Peek for Corrosive Challenge

It's Day 2 of sneak peaks at Paper Makeup Stamps for their July release...weren't yesterday's critter creations fabulous? Today we're sneaking a look at "Retail Therapy"...and lucky for me...my assignment fit for today's Corrosive Challenge too...just goes to show how versatile the new PMS set is going to be! Everyone knows that Christmas is when you do the most shopping (unfortunately)...so I immediately thought of making these shopping bags into Christmas prezzies! the color scheme is a bit wonky for Christmas, but I based it on the DCWV Christmas Stack I will never be able to finish off LOL. Oh yeah, I almost forgot...this layout is from Sweet Sketch Wednesday for this week!

And here's the inside of the card...I did this sentiment on my computer.

Now, if you'd like to see the rest of the Retail Therapy set that's being released on July 7th, check out these fellow Makeup Artist's blogs today for more eye candy!
Bonnie

And don't forget to join in the fun for the release party! It starts at 8pm CST (10 pm Atlantic) in the Paper Makeup Stamps Forum. There will be lots of chatting, fun & games...oh...and a few prizes :)

Raise the Bar for your Country

This week's Raise the Bar Challenge is "Red White & Blue" OR the colors of your country...well...being Canadian, that makes my colors Red & White...who needs blue anyhow? This is a classic layout for a CAS card...and ya know wha??? Sometimes after making some of those really work-intensive cards with lots of coloring or piecing, I just want something really, really simple! That, and I really wanted to feature this gorgeous dp I am still hoarding. The prezzie is from the new SU hostess set "Playful Pieces". Come on over to  Raise the Bar this week and show us your true colors ;)

I'm also entering this card at Paper Sundaes - Birthday Card.

Makeup for the Weekend - Windows

I'm soooo excited! This is my first Makeup for the Weekend as an official Design Team Member for Paper Makeup Stamps! This week's challenge is to make a window card and decorate both the front and the inside. This was really a challenge for me as I don't generally do window cards, but I thought it would be a great chance to get out my Wild Card Cricut cartridge and see what I could do. The hardest part of this card was getting the stamp in the right place to show through the window LOL.

That gorgeous designer paper is from Bo Bunny and I couldn't have placed that sunflower better if I had tried...pure luck with the Cricut LOL. That's Kirsten peeking out through the window, and the sentiment is the small version of the Friends are angels sentiment, punched out with the SU large oval punch. I used my gold Signo gel pen to outline the frame for a little definition.

Here's the inside of the card. Kirsten is colored with Copics, Touch and SU markers. I added some stickles on the dandelion and the wings for a little sparkle.

If you just stopped in here today, please head over to the PMS Blog to see what the other DT members have done with windows this week and then join in the fun yourself! And please come back on Sunday to see my first SNEAK PEEK for the next release due out July 7th...this is a fabulous release (as if they all weren't).
