Thanks for your hospitality

Ok...here's a cool card...well...I think it's cool. I just got this huge order of stamps from Starving Artistamps, and I just couldn't wait to try out this bed stamp. I knew it was going to be fun for paper piecing...and it was. Even better, Stamp With Us had a color challenge out there to use Magenta/Purple, Orange and Red and I had the perfect Bo Bunny designer papers for that. I also wanted to put one of the new SAS kitties on the bed, but I didn't order one that looks like it is lying on a bed...guess I'll have to place another order ;)

I have some BIIIIG NEWS!

Photobucket

THANK GOODNESS I don't have to hold this in any longer...Katie has asked me to be a "Makeup Artist" for Paper Makeup Stamps! I am super stoked about this gig...you KNOW how much I love those fairies, and the July release is super-fab too. It all starts on Friday with my first post for Makeup for the Weekend Challenges, and then the sneak peeks begin on Sunday! I decided to take a last minute vacay to see my parents, so I didn't get a new PMS card ready for today's post...so instead, here are a few of my favs from the past.

Moody for Music

Penelope

Holly

Henry

Noel

There are several new & talented ladies joining me this term at PMS...

But those are just the "newbies"...all our regular favorite Makeup Artists are still there...you can hop over to the PMS Blog to find a list of all of them. I'll be updating my sidebar soon.

Corrosive Challenge 70

Today challenge at Corrosive Challenge blog is to use LOTS of flowers. I found these little beauties in the clearance rack at M's recently and just had to buy some...now I wish I had bought more...once you start using them, you just want to put them on everything! Last chance to get in on this month's prize :)

My sketch for today is courtesy of Waltzing Mouse with her new challenge blog. I have another idea for this sketch, so you might see it again this week.

Raise the Bar--in the Evening

Happy Birthday to my Father & my first born DD Elizabeth!
(not that they'll see this, but I feel better now)

Ok...so this is a bit of a stretch for this week's Raise the Bar Challenge--anything "evening" to celebrate the opening of Eclipse... I don't seem to have any stars or moons and my first card with a star sentiment just didn't work out...so here's my logic...Every year on summer vacation we buy the girls some sparklers...they're scared to death of them, but intrigued all the same. When do we light them? In the EVENING of course so they'll glow! This image (Shaela by Paper Makeup Stamps) reminds me of my DD who has this filmy, frothy, swirly pink dress that she loves...and she loves to swing her sparkly wand all around...but she's blonde LOL.

Other Challenges:
The Pink Elephant 72 - Pink & Black
Mojo Monday
Paper Sundaes 23 - Pretty as a Princess

Color Dare 73

This week's Color Dare is a soft & serene color combo...I thought it was perfect for some ice cream! Make mine banana, cherry and pistachio please :) The colors are So Saffron, Blush Blossom, Certainly Celery and Sahara Sand. I did have to sneak in a bit of Creamy Caramel on the cones because the Sahara made them look moldy LMBO. I just know someone is going to do some incredible flower-y creations with this combo...so please head over to the Color Dare Blog and see what my teammates have conjured up.

I got to play some challenges today...just for fun! AND I finally took out my new SU stamps...this being one...I love Hydrangeas, so I was very excited to see how easy this stamp worked without any coloring! I used Not Quite Navy and Celery this time as I was TRYING to do the Color Throwdown...but I forgot to incorporate the Cameo Coral...ooops...this is becoming a theme for me. I DID however follow the sketch at Get Sketchy this week...I just wish I had spaced the lines of bling a bit further apart to balance the card more.

Then I broke out my latest moody girl, Moody for Dragonflies, from Paper Makeup Stamps...now their challenge this week is "Anything Baby"...hmm....does baby blue count? I colored her with a combo of Touch & Copic markers...I'm still trying to decide which I like better...I find they are quite different and I seem to be better with the Touch blending for some reason. This sketch is from Card Patterns and I'm also entering this card at Play Date Cafe: Black, White & Blue, as well as Fussy & Fancy: Monochrome & wings (there are dragonflies on that image).

And one more for today... I have this thing for ants...you may remember my excitement at finding the "high hopes" ant at High Hopes rubber stamps... well, Doodle Pantry has a couple of cute images, too...and I just thought this sentiment was fabulous...and unexpected. Now someone was doing a Blue & Yellow challenge too...but I'll be darned if I can find it to link here LOL. I did base this card on the Sweet Sunday Sketch as well, but now I see I'm off a bit...oh well...still going to link it! OHHHH....and Sentimental Sundays challenge this week is to use your favorite sentiment... well, this is my "new" favorite...for this week anyhow...LMBO.

Father's Day Double Assignment

This is DH's Father's Day card for this year. I think I've got a winner here...he just doesn't seem to really appreciate cards in general, so I usually don't bother making him cards for most occasions. However, this year he petitioned to receive a Coat of Arms for our family and in the process decided that the animal on the Coat of Arms would be the Snowy Owl...so it's now a symbol of our family, I guess. He's also been getting very interested in his Scottish heritage, thus the plaid paper. I actually started this card because I wanted to use the plaid & the owl together for him...so I went searching for a sketch and found this one on the Mojo Monday blog from a while back. So, for my first "assignment" today, here is my Raise the Bar card for the Father's Day theme.

Then, as I sat looking at this, I realized that it would also work for my Corrosive Challenge assignment for this week... Black & White + one other color....RED! Whoo hoo! I love it when that happens.

Come play along with one or both of these challenges this week...show us your Father's Day creations and your B&W +1 Color Combos.

I am such a DOLT!

See this lovely card? I did it for the Paper Makeup Stamps  food theme challenge...but oooooops...forgot to post it! I'm such a dolt! Where did that word come from anyhow? LOL

Ok...so I also did it for Card Patterns Sketch 68 and for  Play Date Cafe Challenge 33...but oops...I missed that one too....yikes...there goes my good week! Oh yeah...and I also pulled out that polka dot button that I've had for at least 2 years because it FINALLY worked on something... so that works for the Stamp Simply Challenge 143. Ok...so I totally missed 2 out of 4 challenges...yikes.

If you're looking for my Raise the Bar post, please come back on Sunday as I'll be posting a double challenge card that day for Corrosive & Raise the Bar.

Color Dare 72

As the Black Eyed Peas would say "Tonight's gonna be a good, good night!"

1. I downloaded GIMP again and now I can add my fancy schmancy watermark that Karen Giron designed for me to my creations once again.
2. I got my Stampin Up! preorder full of new paper, inks, markers & stamps :) This is going to be my last pre-order as I'm leaving Stampin Up! to pursue other creative outlets...so I'm gonna enjoy this one!
3. I got my new SU Catty today!
4. I got my PaperCrafts magazine today.
5. I got happy mail RAK today from SCS
6. I got invited to be on the Design Team for one of my FAVORITE stamp companies :) :) :) Can't tell you who yet, but I am sooooooo excited!
7. AAAAANNNND I just found out I won the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday random draw for last week's challenge! WHOO HOOO... I love their releases for this month.

Oh yea...and I really like this card! Tee Hee...done with one of the new sets coming in July to a demo near you (but not me LOL). Today's Color Dare is Soft Sky (I used Bashful Blue), Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum and White. I've also used the sketch from this week's Paper Sundaes challenge.

Corrosive Sketch Day

Sorry this pic is a bit blurry...had a migraine today and just didn't have it in me to fuss with the camera. Today's sketch at Corrosive is super-easy, so I hope you'll join along!

Raise the Bar (or is that a baton?)

The theme at Raise the Bar this week is "music"...wow...I had a tough time with this one...It took me a long time to find this music sheet collage paper and then I totally forgot that I had Melody here who is singing... I can't think of another stamp I have that would fit this challenge...anyhow...I finally did figure it out :)

I also did this card for the Paper Makeup Stamps release party challenge to use flowers on the card...those little beauties are Primas...I am in LOVE with them! I also followed the Mojo Monday sketch for this card, making my sentiment myself on the computer because I didn't have one that fit.

Color Dare 70

This week's Color Dare is Old Olive, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, and Very Vanilla...except, I'm all out of Vanilla, so I had to use white :) I used the sketch from Card Positioning Systems for this card.

Of Corsets is a Double Challenge Card

I won this fabulous set at last month's PaperMakeup Stamps release party and I couldn't wait to make a card with it... So, I've used this sexy little number for this month's release party sketch challenge...and I decided to make it a double challenge for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday this week since their challenge was Black & White +One... I went with Teal based on this fabulous SEI Charlemagne paper...it's just got such great texture to it and the Teal really pops against the black. Hmmm...It's all washed out...I really need to build that light box for my photos...sigh...one of these days.

Corrosive Challenge Gets CUT!

Die Cuts, that is! The challenge this week at Corrosive is to use die cuts on your project. I love me some Spellbinders Nestabilities...so this wasn't hard for me at all!

Ohhh...and the inside says... "They just keep creeping up on you!"

Raise the Bar--It's Summer!

Ok...I don't mean to brag...but isn't this gorgeous!!! I am thrilled with the way this card turned out. Today's challenge at Raise the Bar is to make a Summer project...well, nothing says Summer like a bright yellow T-Shirt and some lilacs...the day I made this card I smelled my lilacs for the first time this year...mmmm....I love the smell of lilacs in the hot summer.

Color Dare 69

This week's Color Dare was Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise and Crushed Curry...another tough one for me with the two blue shades to mix. To make this card, I used my sponges to ink up the curry in the middle, then added the Bermuda Bay next and blended it out to the Turquoise...the difference in color is much more evident in person.
