Cooking with Corrosive Challenge

I think I can finally say I've figured out how to watercolor with my Aqua Pens! If you're struggling with an aqua pen, just keep at it...it has taken me four years to figure it out, but I am REALLY happy with this Tilda and the way her dress turned out. I'm not sure I can really tell you what I'm doing finally that works...I think it just takes practice LOL

Anyhow, today's theme at Corrosive Challenge is "cooking". I had this ONE piece of cooking themed paper from a RAK and I pulled the colors for Tilda from it...thank goodness for friends at SCS... Tilda was also a RAK from Heidi (she keeps me supplied).

Today is your last chance to play at Corrosive and win the Frenzified prize for the month...so please join in the fun with your cooking-themed cards.

Raise the Bar--With a Sketch!

Here's my take on Joni's sketch for Raise the Bar this week. This sweet Sarah Kay image is available in rubber, but I found it as a free coloring page online. My girls love to have it printed out as a coloring page and pretend they're Mommy :) One of the benefits of digi!

We would love to see your take on this sketch...come on over and Raise the Bar with us!

Color Dare 68

This week's Color Dare was a tough one for me... Soft Suede, Old Olive, Certainly Celery and Rich Razzleberry. I found it really hard to mix the two greens with the greeny-brown...but I guess it turned out OK. If you're up for a real challenge, try this one out and show us what you've done!

Copic-ing practice again

So, after I took my Copic class a couple of weeks ago, I decided to carry my Copics with me to my DD's dance classes and spend the time coloring while I waited. This cute giraffe from Meljen's Designs is one of the ones I did last week to practice with brown...and then, lucky me, Meljen's challenge this week was "spots"...well...I think the giraffe qualifies :)

Mojo Monday "askew"

Hmmm....me thinks I need to get my eyes checked...every card lately seems to be photographed crooked! This is my take on this week's Mojo Monday sketch...a little askew as per Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge. I actually made two of these, slightly different, but the other pic was also BLURRY LMBO. Talk about "simple"...there's hardly any coloring required on this image...perfect for when you need a quick card...too bad I only had a couple of images from a RAK :(

ETA - Oops...I see now that I didn't follow the Mojo Sketch perfectly... good thing it's not a contest week!

Card Patterns Sketch X3

This week's Card Patterns Sketch was so great, I made three cards with it! And I used up one whole sheet of the black & white polka dots too :) It just works on everything LOL The bugs are a digi image from Digi Stamp Boutique.

I was in a digi stamp mood...and still practicing with my Copics :) This pretty fairy is from Inktegrity. The paper is from Basic Grey's June Bug collection...I won this in Michelle's blog candy a couple of weeks back.

Now this adorable Doraline with Sunflower is from Motivet. Coloring this convince me that my Staples brand paper just doesn't cut it for Copic-ing :) This was Bazzil, I think...it was leftover from a class I took...anyhow...I used the same colors on Staples and it just didn't come out the same at all...much smoother on this paper and the pink is much lighter, too.

Corrosive Challenge goes CAS!

That's right...CAS (Clean and Simple) is all the rage lately...and it really is a great way to make quick cards. Here's another image from this month's Corrosive sponsor, Frenzified, and it only took me a minute to color...just outlined with a light grey Touch marker, and colored the rose...SIMPLE! Come join us at Corrosive Challenge this week with your CAS cards.

Oh...and then I made another CAS card because I forgot I had already done this one and loaded it onto my blog LMBO...so here's another CAS card for this week.

Raise the Bar--It's in the Bag

Nope...it's not a card...and it's not a scrapbook page...it's an altered coffee can! I really don't do much altering, but I need a pen holder in my office and felt like making one. The challenge at Raise the Bar this week was to be inspired by your favorite bag/purse. Well...I'm soooo not a purse person...mine are very bland...and would you believe I only have 4 purses! One is winter (felted wool) and one is very dressy...the other two are boring old brown & grey...and the grey one is broken LOL...so...not very inspiring. I did however see this awesome hot pink purse at Laura yesterday and it inspired me to use hot pink in my project...but I couldn't find a pic of that purse on their website....and silly me...forgot I have a camera phone now.  I would however, love to see YOUR purse...maybe you'll inspire me to go back and buy the awesome pink one :)

Color Dare 67

Today's Color Dare is Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Elegant Eggplant. Circle Circus can make any color combo look easy...it is a must have set, I think.

She's a purple sort of girl!

What if…
there was a purple planet
with purple people on it?

My crafting this weekend left me feeling like Mable Murple...my all-time favourite Sheree Fitch story. If you've never read "Toes in my Nose" or "Monkeys in My Kitchen" you are missing out! Her books are filled with fun alliteration and tons of made up words that somehow make sense...I think she was the inspiration behind my invention of the word "poopcident"...mothers of babies...you KNOW what that word means! ANYhow... here's why I was feeling murple-ish

First up, my second attempt at the hydrangea image...tried to make this one lighter, but it doesn't appear much lighter in the end. I am in love with this digi image (did I mention before it's a freebie you can find on splitcoaststampers?) I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch 69 for this one.

Next up is Ashlie from PaperMakeup Stamps...using the sketch from Friday Sketchers.

And finally, just playing with this awesome digi that was also a freebie on Splitcoaststampers...it's meant to be cut out by the Curved Rectangle Nestabilities. I added a sentiment from Digiments (so sad she closed up shop). A very simple & quick card.

OK...I admit it...I love using my purple Copics :) I do have a few other colors now, but the purples are just so pretty! I will try to branch out next week.

Corrosive Challenge

Today's challenge at Corrosive Challenge is to make an easel card. I love these cards and they are really VERY easy...I didn't even measure this one...once you see how they're done you'll be making them all the time. This cute cuddly snow leopard is from Frenzified, the Corrosive Challenge sponsor for the month of May. Come join the fun at Corrosive this week...and if you need a tutorial on the Easel Card, check out Splitcoaststampers.com resource area.

Raise the Bar...it's a Color Challenge

Joni has issued a color challenge this week: Grey, Yellow & White...such a popular color combo lately in the fashion world. This card started me on my grey color-kick, which you will likely notice over the coming weeks as I made several grey cards last Friday for upcoming assignments. This cute raccoon is one of Joni's Inktegrity images...I printed her out a while ago to practice my alcohol marker coloring...remember...the day I came home with 8 shades of grey??? It was for this cute little "New Moon" reading gal. So...here's a great excuse to use up some of those black & grey prima flowers you bought and never knew what to do with (ahem...talking from experience here)...come join us in the grey & yellow challenge at Raise the Bar this week.

Color Dare 66

Ok...well, I can't figure out why it won't let me turn this pic upright...so you're going to look at my card sideways today LMBO. The Color Dare for this week is : Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Old Olive and Bashful Blue. This is one of Joni's Inktegrity fairies released a couple of months ago. Come join the fun at the Color Dare this week...and hopefully you'll get your picture turned upright!

I used this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems as well.

Copic-ing Practice

Yes, I have finally succumb to the alcohol ink marker craze...I took a class on Copics last Friday and now I am hooked...a little late in the game, but still hooked. So, I spent all weekend practising with my Copics & Touch markers.

Here is one of the first ones I did...this image is from Christy Croll, illustrator of Tiddly Inks :) I was too lazy to look up a lighthouse like this to see what colors it could be, so I stuck with black & white... for my US friends...did you know that in Canada we only have plain white lighthouses?

Then I tried this one...a free image I found on Splitcoaststampers. It's a little dark, but I don't have the lighter Copic for this set yet. I used the Paper Sundaes sketch for this one, and tried the "nestie out of the box" technique on the leaves...haven't done that before and it was actually quite easy.

And finally, this PMS fairy for the Play Date Cafe color challenge: Pink, Grey & Black.

Thanks for checking in today...if you have any good Copic resources to share with me...please post in the comments...I'm now on the hunt for good tutorials!

Corrosive Challenge Sketch Day

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

It's sketch day over at Corrosive Challenge...I am still playing with my stash of printed digi images...love this little sheep! And, um...yeah...if I had been thinking, I would have made a Mother's Day card LOL. I used the scraps left over from my Color Q card from a while back and I think I like this one better LOL. The little hearts in the centre of the flowers are from the new Itty Bitty Bits stamp set from SU...and look at that Tartan Cuttlebug folder...I looooove it! Anyhow...this is my take on today's sketch. We'd love to see yours, too. Come join the fun at Corrosive Challenge!

Oh, and HEY...if you missed it yesterday was Janet's birthday...Janet...as in Corrosive Challenges by JANET! LOL Stop by her blog and wish her a happy bee-lated bee-day, and then take our little birthday blog hop, too...starting here at Karen's blog.

PaperMakeup Stamps Release Party Challenges

PaperMakeup Stamps released another AWESOME bunch of images this past Friday...since Friday is my main crafty day, I was able to play along with their release challenges on Friday and share my creations at the party Friday night (which, thanks to uber-generous Katie, won me a prize!)

The first card was for the Buttons & Bows challenge...I only used one of each...but that's all it takes! It was good to bring out my fairies again...I feel like they've been unfairly neglected lately.  The second card is for the sketch challenge.

I'm also entering these in Danni's Flutterby Wednesday challenge this week as it's an open challenge.

Happy Bee Day Janet!

Happy Birthday Janet!

Welcome to Janet's Happy Bee Day Blog Hop! If you've just come from Nancy's blog then you're on the right trail...just follow your nose :) I decided to make a bright and happy Bee Day card for Janet today. You may know Janet from Corrosive Challenge blog, or from Splitcoaststampers...or perhaps you ran into her at Niagra Falls? LOL I am actually hoping to finally meet her in June when I go to Niagra for a conference. Anyhow... please stop on over to Janet's blog and wish her a happy BEE Day! Thanks for hopping along with us. Now, buzz on over to Michelle's blog to see what she has up for you!

Raise the Bar for Mother's Day

I'm such a bad daughter! I didn't get my Mother's Day card mailed! YIKES...And I had about 5 to choose from too LOL I even reminded DH to get his mailed...SIGH. Today's challenge at Raise the Bar is to make something for Mom. I made this one a couple of weeks back to go with the FTL challenge sketch, but saved it for today. I've been on a mission to use up some of the retiring cardstock in my stash, so I pulled out Almost Amethyst for this one...and My Matroyshka, which I've only used about twice! This flower stamp is soooo pretty, and so easy to color. I used Amethyst and Lilac markers to color it in. Easy Peasy!

Rocking the Moody Challenges!

More of me playing with my new Spellbinders Frameability. I thought this week's ColorQ challenge was an interesting one and I wanted to use this Moody for Rock that I had printed out already. The color challenge was Bravo Burgandy, Cameo Coral, Sage Shadow, Always Artichoke...and then I noticed that I somehow used Mellow Moss by mistake LOL. I find my Bravo Burgandy marker looks almost black, so I watercolored with it and it gave me this nice red guitar!

Now this one is me practicing with my very few Copics...I only have 5 purples LOL I also saw this great tutorial by Dawn Burnworth on how to make these beautiful ribbon flowers and I just had to try it...lucky for me the purple ribbon I used to test it matched this card! Dawn has some lovely blog candy right now, too!

The ribbon flowers qualifies for this week's Stamp Simply Challenge. Too bad I didn't pay attention and use Banana & Olive instead of Celery & Saffron, cause then I would have qualified for the Color Throwdown, too, sigh... oh well.

Spring for EWE

This week's challenge at the Deitrich Dare is "Spring". I wanted to use this cute digi from Whimsie Doodles to make a card for my sheep-collecting friend who I haven't seen in a "sheep's age" lol...I hate it when life gets in the way of being with friends! Anyhow, the DD helped me get the card done :) Now...to get it actually mailed!

Corrosive Challenge Birthday!

This week's challenge at Corrosive is to make a Birthday Card...pretty simple...so simple that I made several! This has to be one of the best digi images out there...I just love Jodi's funny ladies at Bugaboo Stamps. I did the first one to practice using my Copics & Touch markers...I think I'm getting better!

This color combo is for the Color Chef challenge this week...I don't think I've played there before, but the color combo caught my eye: Orange, Turquoise, Grey & White....and since her hair is grey anyhow LOL

And this one I did just to use up some of that old dsp I had sitting around...so it qualifies for The Belli Challenge this week.

SEE how easy that was? Everyone needs birthday cards! Come join the fun at Corrosive Challenge this week. We have a new sponsor for the month and you could win!
