Corrosive Challenge - All You Need is Love

and caffeine...and chocolate...ohhhhh and a great pair of high heel boots LOL. Ok...maybe not everyone needs the boots, but I sure do! The challenge this week at Corrosive Challenge is "Love" of course. So I've prepared for you a nice piccie of my favorite boots, which I LOVE!

Just kidding. I do, however, have another Dawn McVey inspired creation. Hmmm...I'm starting to think that McVey Mondays would be a great regular feature for me LOL...wonder how she would feel about that?

The base is Kraft stamped in Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, Rich Razzleberry and white. All those lovely hearts are from the new I {heart} Hearts set in the SU mini catalogue. The border is punched using the SU eyelet border punch in Eggplant Envy (that's a retired color, I just happened to have a scrap on hand). Here is the Dawn McVey post I was inspired by. WAIT...before you go over and get lost in Dawn's blog...please don't forget to share you "Love-ly" crfeations with us at Corrosive Challenge this week!

Now for a big announcement! Tomorrow is my first day back to work after two years of being a stay at home mother. YIKES I am soooo nervous...mostly about getting out of the house in the morning, but also about the changes for my two daughters. I am pretty sure this new day job is going to impact my stamping time, but I'm determined to keep the commitments I've made to the teams I'm currently on. I enjoy this too much to just give it up! So, if I don't post as often as I used to, I'm sure you'll understand.

Dig REEEEALLLY Deep for Raise the Bar this week.

Ok ladies...pull out those Rubbermaid bins full of "stash" that you've stuffed in the back of the know...the box of really old supplies that you just couldn't bear to get rid of at the last yard sale? This week's challenge at Raise the Bar is to use some REALLY OLD printed paper on your project. I went digging in my "old" box and found this great Making Memories paper...look! Everything old is new has Fleur de Lis all over it! Perfect match for my new Spellbinders Pendant. This paper must be at least 8 years old. And I have 4 sheets that all coordinate! WHoo HOOO more cards to match LOL

So, join us in our little treasure hunt at Raise the Bar this week...let's see who is the worst hoarder out there!

Makeup For the Weekend

Just a quickie post to get my Makeup For The Weekend card up before tomorrow...I still can't seem to get used to this one being posted on Fridays LOL. I chose Penelope for this one because the challenge over at Flourishes this week was to be inspired by the letter "P" :) And since this week is an open week at Flutterby Wednesday, I'll enter her there too...just in case I don't get a chance to do another Flutterby card :)

Color Dare 52 - OOOOH it's a toughy

This week's Color Dare is a dooooozy! Old Olive, Bordering Blue, Not Quite Navy, Certainly Celery and Soft Suede. WOWZA that's 5 colors! Luckily I had these two Bugaboo digi images that I wanted to play with and I thought that the Bordering Blue would be perfect for "old lady blue hair" LOL. Bugaboo has a ton of hilarious ladies...I may just have to collect them all!

Please come join us this week for the Color Dare.

Sketches {by Tamara}

Ok....let's try this again...I accidentally published this last week by mistake...had to delete it and now have to retype it all SIGH.

The challenge at  Sketches {by Tamara} this week is to journal about something you've overcome. I wrote about my migraines and how it took me over 15 years of suffering to figure out that my main trigger is BANANAS! I'm also sensitive to tomatoes and nuts. If you've overcome something and would like to save the experience for your scrapbook, now is a great time to do that. If it's something you can share, we'd love to see it linked up on the Sketches {by Tamara} blog so we can congratulate you.

Fall-to-Layout Challenge

It's been a while since I was able to join in at the Fall-to-Layout challenge at Clean & Simple Stamping. But when I saw Natasha's sample I had to CASE it. I just looooved the color scheme she used and I knew it would be perfect for a Sympathy card...and I needed a sympathy card for my upcoming yes, local ladies, this is one of the cards you'll be making next week :)

Corrosive Challenge - Fancy Folds

I am always soooo far behind the times. The tutorial for the Free-Standing Pop Up Card has been on SCS for EVER! But would you believe this is the very first time I've made one? Why is it that I'm always a year (or three) late trying these fancy folds? This was really sooo easy to do and I will be doing more soon.

For those who are local, this is one of the Fancy Fold techniques I will be doing at my Fancy Folds workshop on March 8th. And YES There are still a few spaces left for that class.

Join in the fun at Corrosive Challenge this week and try this, or any other "Fancy Fold" card design. Perhaps this is just the kick in the pants you need to try one that you've been putting off too :) I'll be scouting the entries this week for something even older...uhhhh I mean newer to try myself.

Ketto-riffic "not-really-a-Flutterby" Challenge Card

YAY! I finally found some REAL mojo today. I crafted away and came up with 4 cards...I can't show you all of them today, but I am sooo happy with the way they all turned out. This one is for quite a few challenges.

-Flutterby Wednesday - Embossing (the Spellbinders Tag is embossed) + Danni's impromptu Bella weekend theme LOL
-Technostampers Monday Sketch Challenge
-Charisma Cardz - use "fruity" colors (pink, red, yellow green)
-Color Throwdown - Olive, Melon Mambo and So Saffron (I'll admit this happened totally by accident and I was surprised when I checked my notes to see that this was the CTD for this week LOL)
-Cute Card Thursday - use a fairy
-Raise the Bar - Use something gifted to you - the dp was a RAK from an SCS friend.
-Stamp, Scrap & Doodle - Spring
-Stamp and Scrap Saturday - use your stash, at least 6 months old (both pieces of dp)
-Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential - bright, sunny colors
-AllSorts - Hearts & Flowers (check that dp closely LOL)
-Incy Wincy - Favorite Coloring Medium - SU Markers (NO I STILL don't Copic LOL)

WHEW...that's a record for me! But darnit...wouldn't you know it does NOT fit Pile It On this week? LOL

Raise the Bar - The Gift That Keeps on Giving

In the true spirit of "Raising the Bar" I really went out of my comfort zone for this week's challenge...I just don't do "vintage" or "shabby chic" very well...altho I LOVE the look. This week's challenge at Raise the Bar was to use something that was given to you. As I looked around my space, I was astounded that I couldn't find stamp sets... no paper...a few brads maybe...but THEN I found it...this gorgeous hand made flower embellishement that I won in Linda's blog candy a few months ago. OOOOO perfect! I needed to find a way to use this beautiful flower so I went on a search for some vintage-y paper to go with and found a K&Co stack that had this beautiful burgandy print in it. For the layout, I've been talking to my inner "Dawn McVey" today, caseing/ adapting several of the cards from her blog and this one is inspired by her work. If you're not familiar with Dawn's work you really need to check out her's just fabulous and she's best known for her "clean & simple" style, buttons and bows. You will also see her published in nearly every issue of every cardmaking magazine you can pick up LOL.

Please come over the Raise the Bar and check out what the other Bar Tenders have done this week with the gifts they've received. We'd love to have you join in the fun as well and show us something you were given.

Color Dare 52

This week's Color Dare was a challenge for me. The colors are: Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Only Orange. Do you see the orange in this card? LOL...the little birdie beaks are orange and there are flecks of orange in the trees in the dp...sneaky, eh? If you're feeling daring and want to play along, please link up your creations on the Color Dare blog so we can see what you've done.

Sketches {by Tamara} Card Sketch

Welcome to Sketches! {by Tamara} Tuesday...this week we have a great card sketch for you to try. Here's my sample using the brand new Tote-ally Tess set from Stampin Up!

And did you notice that I finished the INSIDE of this card? Why is it that I have to think soooo hard to remember to do that when all it REALLY takes is a strip of leftover coordinating paper?

If you like this sketch, why not link up your creation over on the Sketches! {by Tamara} blog and show us what you did! Next week will be a REAL challenge for's a journalling challenge...yes, that's right...the dreaded journalling. I can't wait to see what I come up with LOL

Corrosive Goes Digi

Can I get a WHOOO HOOOO! I FINALLY got a new printer...sigh...for those regulars to my blog, you might remember that it was mid-November when my printer died. No printer means no DIGI stamps :( And I looooove digi stamps.

So, this is my digi-stamp comeback...and not a day to soon LOL This month over at Corrosive Challenges we have a fabulous digi stamp company sponsoring... Allison Spelman of Stretch 'n Bubbles. These two sister bears are one of her super-cute FREE digi stamps. As soon as I saw this image I thought of that famous Seinfeld scene where Elaine keeps pushing on people and saying "Get Out!". I know these bears are supposed to be hugging, but to me it kinda looks like big sis pushed lil' sis over LOL.

I used the MOJO Monday sketch for this card...oh...and I should mention that the challenge this week at Corrosive is to use a digi stamp LOL...but you probably guessed that already. Please come over to Corrosive Challenges and join in the fun. Someone this month is going to win Stretch N Bubbles digis!

Raising the Bar

There's a new challenge blog on the may have noticed my new badge over there on the right? I am a Bar-Tender for the Raising the Bar challenge blog. My former Inktegrity boss lady and great e-friend Joni has set up this challenge blog to encourage you to use your crafting tools, stamps, hoarded goodies, must-haves-but-still-in-the-box supplies to its fullest potential.

We will "Raise The Bar" each week, offering fun challenges that will encourage you to try something new, re-visit an old favorite technique, or just step out of your box! Head on over to the blog now to check out what the other ladies have done with this week's theme "Debut Day" - use something new! I think this is the last "new" SU set I have that I haven't used I had to carefully save it for this challenge. I love daffodils and was thrilled to see this set in the Occasions Mini Catalogue just out. This time I've stamped with Stazon and colored with my SU markers...easy peasy lemon squeezy (HA! haven't said that in a while).
Oh....and did I mention that Joni is offering up some great blog candy over at the Raise the Bar blog? RUN, don't walk, to check it out...wish I were eligible :(

ColorQ Moody Girl

I had to come in and post this tonite to make it in for the PMS Challenge...I hate it when I miss out on a challenge that I actually completed LOL. The challenge at PMS this week was a sketch and I used the ColorQ color combo for this card: Basic Gray, Celery, Pumpkin and Banana. I love the combo...I've got another idea in my head for this so you'll probably see that soon.

Color Dare 51

Where DOES the time go? I cannot believe we're at CD 51 already...I joined the team officially on CD19...but I still love doing these challenges. Yes, some weeks it is difficult, but very rarely have I ended up with a card I didn't like.

My Mytroshka is one of Stampin Up!'s new stamp sets in the Occasions Mini Catalogue out now. My 6 year old daughter loves nesting dolls...she has two that are kitties and she loves to play with them. So I had to have this set. This week's Color Dare is Garden Green (my fav green), Barely Banana and Melon Mambo. I'm pre-posting this card a couple of days early and I cannot wait to see what the other Color Dare girls have done with this's gonna be a good one this week. We'd love to have you play along and if you don't have the new In-Color Melon Mambo, you could substitue Pink Passion or Pixie Pink...or any other brand that is similar...we're not THAT fussy, we just want you to play!

Sketches! {by Tamara} Recipe Challenge

The recipe challenge at Sketches! {by Tamara} this week is: Rub ons, flowers and bling. I had this super cute giraffe rubon by American Crafts sitting around just waiting to be used. I'd seen some cards with the SU Matroyshka dolls done for Mother's Day and thought the line of giraffes would be cute as a Mother's Day card too. Now, hope on over to the Sketches blog to see what the other girls have come up with for you today and then come back here next week for the card sketch challenge.

Sweet Sunday Sketch

This card started out for a totally different sketch, but ended up using the Sweet Sunday Sketch for this week :) I still have this stash of Apricot dsp and wanted to use it up. I remembered back to a color combo I really liked--Apricot and Burgandy...but I needed a third color, and this piece of Olive ribbon was sitting in my scrap mess pile, so Olive it is! I love it when something comes together so easily. See that heart-y border punch? That's the NEW Pinking Hearts border punch from SU...and it has a matching corner punch, too.  The sentiment is from Messages for Mom, one of the fab new sets available in the SU Occasions mini catalogue out now.

YUP...that's it...just one challenge for this card LOL...the stamp set is new, but I don't think I'll harrass the ladies at all the challenges this week who are using "new" as their theme.

A Distressing Corrosive Challenge

This week's challenge at Corrosive Challenges is "distressing". There are so many different types of distressing, that I decided to use a few techniques on this card.

  • I used a sponge and ink to "distress" all my edges.

  • I ripped the image panel.

  • I crumpled the white & green panel until it was SOFT and then flattened person it has a lot of texture.

  • I used my edge distressing tool from Stampin Up! to shred the edges of the Regal Rose panel.
  • I tried to fray the edges of my ribbon, too, but it really just looks like a bad cutting job LOL

I also wanted to play in a couple of other challenges with this card...some for the second time this week :)

  • ColorQ - Razzleberry, Orchid, Regal Rose and Kiwi Kiss (I had to substitute Celery as I didn't have a cartridge for Kiwi Kiss)

  • Belli Challenge - glitter or rhinestones (I added a few tiny twinkles)

  • Flutterby Wednesday (new SU butterfly embosslit, new stamp set, new wheel)

  • Fussy and Fancy (new SU butterfly embosslit, new stamp set, new wheel)

  • Cute Card Thursday (new SU butterfly embosslit, new stamp set, new wheel)

  • PaperTake Weekly (new SU butterfly embosslit, new stamp set, new wheel)

Playing with new things!

I am having a really, really, REALLY hard time getting back into the swing of things after being lazy over Christmas break. I went shopping the other day to pick up a stool for my craft space and of course I managed to buy some other things as well LOL There are a few challenges this week that ask us to use NEW things, so to try to get going, I decided to use these new stamps from Studio G that I picked up. They really are not my normal style, but they were so pretty! The polka dot paper is also's from the SU Designer Series Paper Stack in the Occasions Mini Catalogue just out. So, this card is being entered at:

Color Dare 50 - Ruby Caramel Bays

I'm a bit late posting my Color Dare cards today...I've been really lazy they were done on time, but I couldn't seem to get them photographed until this morning.

The first card uses my Doolefactory Final Frontier Stamps again...there's just something about Bermuda Bay in a color combo that makes me want to use that set! The strip of paper is from an awesome page from Bella Blvd. that I bought just to coordinate with the stamp set. I used the Sweet Stop sketch for this week on this card.

This set of cards is very plain, but kinda cute, too. I love mixing up the embossing folders this way and this card is totally cased from a fellow SCS member...I just changed the colors. It would be so easy to create a set of four of these just by making four card fronts, embossing each one differently, cutting and pasting!

We've got some new ladies joining us at The Color Dare this week...please be sure to stop by their blogs and leave them some love...they are incredible designers! And please feel free to join along...we'd love to see what you do with the combo. And maybe you'll be one of the top three picks for the week!

Sketches! {by Tamara}

Whoo Hooo! It's my first post as a member of the Sketches! {by Tamara} design team. I am so excited to expand my horizons to scrapbooking challenges with this team. Tamara posts a different challenge each week...some are for cards and some are for scrapbooking. This week's challenge is a scrapbooking sketch.

And here's what I did with the's a far cry from snowflakes LOL...but that's the point of a sketch. Once again, the hardest part of this layout for me was the title...I suck at titles. My Cricut sure does come in handy for making them....I just need a better way to figure out what to cut with the Cricut! I used a full sized 5x7 photograph on this 12x12 page. I printed the journaling strips right onto my cardstock and then trimmed (I hate writing on my pages as my handwriting SUCKS!) OHHHHHH! And that base paper is from the brand new Stampin Up! designer paper stack in the Occassions Mini-Catalogue just out.

We would love to see what you do with Tamara's layout sketch. Sketches make it sooo easy to complete a page, so if you're just getting started in scrapbooking, this is definitely the way to go! And if you need more inspiration, take a peek at the other Sketches girls work on the blog...they're full of awesome ideas to get your mojo going.

Next week we will have a recipe challenge for you that can be used for either cards or scrapbooking...don't forget to come back!

My Favorite Things at Corrosive Challenges

The challenge Janet has set forth this week at Corrosive Challenges is to use two of your favorite embellishments on a card. I chose ribbon and stickles (not sure if you can see the stickles on her dress). Come play along with us this week and show us what your favorite embellishments are.
