Doraline had a Playdate!

I decided to participate in a new challenge blog I found recently...it's called the Play Date Cafe Challenge...yes, I know I am addicted to challenges! Their challenge this week was: Orange, Yellow and Chocolate. I chose to use Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip. This is my third try at coloring Doraline...and this is the only one of those three you're ever gonna see LOL. I find that every new stamp company, it takes me a few tries to figure out HOW to color them. I'm not real big on animal stamps, but this one was soooo adorable that I put it on my Birthday wish list and my friend Lorien sent it to me! So, I was determined to figure her out. On my screen Doraline looks kinda grey, but she's actually colored with Close to Cocoa.

Oh...another little thing I discovered today...you can refill your blender pens with water! I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I like the tip of the blender pens better than the Aqua Painters for blending on watercolor paper (which this is on)...but all my blender pens are dry... so I thought...hmmm....if I put water in, then they would be just like the Aqua pens, but with the tip I like! DUUUUUUHHHH! The blonde moments are coming much more frequently as I get older...and I refuse to call them senior moments yet!

Dashing in Red & Kraft

Here's a really quick & easy Dasher card using Real Red and Chocolate Chip accents on a Kraft base. Dasher was stamped in Creamy Caramel. And wouldn't he be cute with a little red nose??? I just didn't have anything to put there. If you haven't seen Dasher in the SU catalogue...check out the back page...he's one of the "singles" available on the back page...perfect for those who are just starting out in the stamping world and don't want to make a huge investment... or perhaps a great stocking stuffer...or giftie for a crafty friend or colleague? At just $10.95 Cdn he's very affordable.

Blog Hop(e) for Breast Cancer Awareness

Thank you for joining us on the Blog Hop(e) for Breast Cancer Awareness today. If you've just happened on my blog, please go back to the beginning and check out Michelle's post here...then follow along.

There are so many great images available today to celebrate survivorship, even though I have yet to be personally (family & friends wise) touched by Breast Cancer, I couldn't stop at just one card!

First, here's another look-see at the Inktegrity awareness ladybugs! This image is a FREEBIE and you can still download it today at the Inktegrity blog (it's on the right side bar near the bottom). Funny thing about this card is that the polka dot paper is from a Christmas Stack from last year LOL!

This is Pink Ribbon Maggie from Digital Delights by Louby Lou. Isn't she A-DOR-A-BLE? This is a super-size card...it's 5.25 x 7.5...I have a stash of these mega envies I need to use up, so I'm going to try to make more of this size card... besides, you get a much better view of the images!

Then I thought...oooooo...what a perfect excuse to make another bra card! I love this sentiment from SU's Sassy Suzie and these bras are just so easy to make.

And last, but certainly not least, MFT made this image available digitally as a freebie for World Card Making Day (I think that's when it was LOL). Who can resist a free "Who's That Girl" image? I made this card for the Midnight Madness Sketch challenge...haven't played there for a while!

Funny thing happened to this card...I pulled out my Melon Mambo marker to color the lady on the right and I kept thinking...hmmm...that's really dark...doesn't really look like the right color...wonder what's wrong? Then when I pulled out the Razzleberry Lemonade paper I really knew the color was off...later when I was looking for my Rose Red marker I realized that I had put it in the In-Color marker case by mistake...so this is actually a Rose Red card LOL But I left it because it works, I think.

OK...I've kept you here long enough. I hope I've inspired you today! Thanks for hopping along on this inspirational Blog Hop(e). Your next stop is Aimee - - http://rusewcrazy.blogspot.com/.

Here's the list of everyone who is playing along today to support Breast Cancer Awareness. Remember, just because the month is over doesn't mean we can afford to forget about Breast Cancer!

Three Challenges: TWO cards

First up today is a double challenge card. As soon as I saw the Color Throwdown for this week (Elegant Eggplant, Bordering Blue and Rich Razzleberry), I knew I had to use my Siberian Iris stamp from Flourishes. And since I was using a Flourishes stamp already, I thought I should also try to do the Timeless Tuesday challenge for this week...thankfully it was an easy one to combine: using border punches or borderabilities. I LOOOOVE the result, if I do say so myself! The blue is the perfect complement to the rich purples and these two purples combined soooo well on the iris...I have a new favorite color combo for this iris!

And when I saw this week's sketch for the Fall-to-Layout, I knew it was another chance to use that little Studio G Nativity again!

Anya is a Triple Threat!

I did this card with FOUR specific challenges in mind (yeah, I know, the title is a bit off, but it sounded better than quadruple threat!)... sometimes a card fits a challenge by accident, but this one I set out to combine these four specific challenges into one card!

2. Digital Tuesday Color Challenge: Kraft, Orange and one other color (Black)
3. Papertake Weekly challenge: Spots & Stripes
4. The Pink Elephant recipe challenge: Black, Hardware and distressing (I hope the candy corn brad qualify at hardware LOL)

Now, this is nowhere near the incredible feat that Cabio has done in combining 13 challenges into one card...yes 13! But I'm happy with the results! Ok...now I have one request to all the challenge blog coordinators reading this... PLEASE NO MORE HALLOWEEN! LOL I know this will probably be the last week for Halloween stuff anyhow, but I gotta say I'm sick to death of Halloween cards :)

Color Dare 40

See!?!? I told you it would be November before I could branch out for the Color Dare :)

This dare really had me stumped... I literally stood in my room and stared at my stuff for a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how I was going to work Amethyst in with Suede and Pumpkin. then I found this piece of paper in the Once Upon a Time stack and VOILA! I think I said that last week, too didn't I? Well it's true...whenever I'm stuck for a challenge, finding just the right paper makes it soooo much easier. So why not play along with us this week and show us what you can do with these awesome colors (yes, I can say they're awesome now that my card is done LOL). Just link us up at the BLOG so we can find your creations.

Did you catch the new challenge Joni issued on the Inktegrity Blog? I had a blast playing with the freebie image she provided for this challenge. You have until Oct 31 to link up your creation to be eligible to win some free digi images! This card uses Joni's Mug image and the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge with Dawn McVey. Her challenge was
My colors are a bit different because I'm using Stampin Up! colors: Creamy Caramel, Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery. I did the cracked glass technique on the mug, thinking this would give it an aged, antiqued look, but I couldn't get a pic of the cracks for ya!

Head on over to the Inktegrity Blog to grab your own copy of the mug image and show us what you can do... one lucky player will win free digis from Inktegrity.

Super Cool Slusser

Ok...I admit it...I like Slusser better than Pasha (the poodle Joni designed for my DD)...He's just sooooo adorable! He looks kind of sad...and pitiful...like he needs someone to play with him LOL So I did! This is an old Mojo Monday sketch and I used Pacific Point c/s with some DCWV Christmas paper. I just knew the monochrome blues would look great on Slusser. This cute little penguin is just one of the fabulous images released by Joni at Inktegrity last week. If you didn't win him in the blog candy giveaways, you can still pick him up at Joni's store, along with Pasha the Poodle and other great animals.

If you just can't get enough Inktegrity, you'll be happy to hear that there's yet another release coming up next week! We'll be celebrating this release with a blog hop on November 1st...please don't forget to join us!

Mega Mojo Inspiration

I know I've said this a kazillion times...but I LOOOOVE Mojo Monday and Julee's sketches. Tonite was one of those nights...I just didn't really feel like doing anything, but I went into my craft room to see what I might do. As always on a night like this, I started by looking at some of Julee's sketches...I keep them all printed out and hanging on my bulletin board for easy reference (she puts each month's sketches on an easy to print out PDF). So, I began with this week's sketch...I've been looking for something to do with this cute little nativity set that Studio G put out last year, but I've never really been sure how to use an image so small as the focus. This week's Mojo sketch was just what I needed to get moving and use this cute set.

Well, I was so happy with this creation that I decided to look through Julee's sketches for more ideas for this set...and I ended up making these three cards, too:

I have to say, I'm quite proud of myself LOL I've had this little nativity since nearly last Christmas and I've finally figured out how to use it... AAAANNNNNDDDD I think this is the first time I've actually used a Studio G set! The smallness of the sets seems to intimidate me...but NO MORE! All it takes is a little personal challenge, I guess...and a little bit of MOJO :) Thanks Julee!

Show off your Inktegrity!

Have you seen the super simple tutorial for the "Easel Card" on SCS? Once again I've put off trying something for a looooong time and wished I hadn't. This card is so easy to make and it's a great way to make a "stand up" card for someone to display...say on their desk at work :)

Joni has issued a new challenge at Inktegrity today, including a free image that you need to play along. The winner will be announced Nov 1 and will win free digi images! Here's my first creation using the new mug image.

I added a little gift card slot inside...I thought a gc to the local coffee shop would go well with this card and make a cute little prezzie for a birthday or Christmas. This card is 6" tall to accommodate the poem in a large enough font to read. I just couldn't resist the poem when I found it.

Just in case you can't make out the words on the card, here's the poem:

Caffeine is my shepherd; I shall not doze.
It maketh me to wake in green pastures:
It leadeth me beyond the sleeping masses.
It restoreth my buzz:
It leadeth me in the paths of consciousness for its name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of addiction,I will fear no Equal™:
For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me.
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of The Starbucks:
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over.
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the House of Mochas forever.
~Author Unknown

And since you're already here... I created this quick & simple card for two challenges this week. Janet at Corrosive Challenge blog wanted us to do a Halloween card, and this sketch is from The Pink Elephant Challenge.

FTL 64 with Digiments

If you're already into Christmas gift-making mode, then you're going to want to head over to Natasha's Clean & Simple Stamping blog for the Fall-to-Layouts she posts every week. I liked last week's layout soooo much that I've already made 4 sets of cards to give as Christmas gifts this year...that's right...four sets using last week's layout and some WILD designer paper I never thought I'd be able to use LOL These CAS layouts are perfect for mass-production. Here's my take on this week's sketch:

Once again, I've used a Digiments sentiment to complete this card...perfect because you can make them any size you need...so I needed a long slim sentiment for this card...just made it the height I thought would look good, and VOILA!

Color Dare Wednesday

So, as I was editing this photo to upload, I realized that I use A LOT of Anyas for my Color Dare challenges LOL...I think I need to branch out a bit more...in November LOL. This week's dare was Tempting Turquoise, Crushed Curry and Perfect Plum. I didn't know how I was going to pull this together until I found these printed papers in my Pocket Full of Posies paper stack...sometimes all it takes is the perfect dp to get your MOJO flowing! Please come over to the Color Dare blog and play along with us!

I'm an Honest Scrapper!

Many thanks to Kim for giving me something to post today LOL I'm still in sooooo much pain that there's just no way I can do anything in the craft room. I am happy to report that my fever seems to have broken, however...let's just hope it doesn't come back. I think, since my throat is soooo bad, I will have to go to the walk-in clinic again today...I hate that. I always feel like they think I'm wasting their time.
Anyhow, for this award I am to pass it on to five people and tell 10 things about myself. Not sure I can make them as interesting as Kim did, but we'll see.
Joni - she has to be one of the most generous people I've met on-line...and you can always count on her to be honest...she makes me laugh and feel good about myself.
Michelle - another generous soul...giving away half of her proceeds last month to Travelling Mama...her e-mails also are very honest and make me giggle.
Heather - I just enjoy reading about her and her kids on her blog...not to mention her awesome creations.
Catherine - one of my "live" friends LOL
Dawn - one of my Rubber Bombshells sistahs...go check out her awesome Halloween card today!
Martha - another of my Rubber Bombshells sistahs...she's got a gorgeous heart shaped album on her blog today.
Ok...so in the half hour it has taken me to get this far...my drugs are kicking in and I'm starting to feel a bit better...maybe I will craft today :)
10 things about me:
1. I have a special needs daughter who is 6. She has PDD-NOS, which in real life terms means many issues with no real diagnosis.
2. Fall is my favorite time of year.
3. I love to wear pointy-toed high heel boots all the time!
4. I played Clarinet & Saxophone in junior & high school bands.
5. I DVR General Hospital every day.
6. I like Jacob more than Edward!
7. My favorite book ever is The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
8. I literally have hundreds of hand-made cards in boxes in my craft room...I will never use them all!
9. I am totally addicted to splitcoaststampers.com
10. I rarely buy store brand cookies...I love to bake my own!

Last but not least...

I am sick AGAIN! I woke up yesterday with a desperate sore throat and the "ickies"...and today is just as bad. Advil is my best friend right now as it's the only way I can stand to move! So, thankfully I had a really productive couple of days earlier in the week and I saved this card to show you today. All of the Inktegrity new releases are now available in Joni's Store and Slusser the Penguin is just one the cute animals you can hop on over and purchase today.

I think this is one of my favorite Inktegrity cards ever! Slusser is just so darned cute! This paper is from the K&Co Occasions stack and I just love the colors... a little Christmas-y without over doing it! Now this card is also doubling (tripling?) as two challenge entries... I used the sketch from Corrosive Challenge for this week and I added some winter sparkles to the snow & snowflake brads for the Season that Sparkles challenge at Flourishes.

More Inktegrity & Blog Candy Winner!

This release has been soooo much fun! These animals are all adorable. Here are two more of my creations with images available in the Inktegrity Store TOMORROW! Blog Candy winner is at the bottom of this post!

AND for a little bit of happy news...Joni has asked me to stay on the Design Team for one more month! YAY! I can't wait to see what she's got up her sleeve for November's release. Now...on to the cards:
Meet Ricky the Raccoon...and do you see what he's (or maybe she's) reading? It's New Moon of course! I finally caved and thanks to Kim who loaned me her books, I am halfway through Breaking Dawn...and surprisingly I have quite enjoyed these books...ok...maybe you're not surprised LOL. Ricky's card was inspired by this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I decided to try watercoloring her...I'm still getting used to the look of watercoloring and I'm not sure if I like it LOL.

And this cute little guy is Blackberry :) I used the MOJO Monday sketch for this one...some days it seems I can't get anything done without a challenge LOL...but I love sketches.

MORE GOOD NEWS :) Blog Candy WINNER: JenniferCR you have won Pasha & Sentiments... Please send me an e-mail at ahovey@eastlink.ca to claim your prize! Winners from all the DT blogs will be announced on the Inktegrity Blog as they are drawn.

Don't forget to check out the other Inktegrity Diva's blogs too...you might just find some other blog candy along the way!

FTL63 with Digiments

Ok...these cards, both of them together, took me under 10 minutes! How's that for quick cards? I had some sentiments already printed out from Digiments, use a couple of scraps of paper following the FTL63 and VOILA!

Bright and Pretty Color Dare

This week's Color Dare was Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Taken with Teal and Basic Grey. The Grey threw me off at first, but it looks nice just as the card base...is that cheating? LOL I used the FTL62 layout for this one and it really is a great CAS card. Wanna join us at the Color Dare? Play along with whatever supplies/colors you have on hand, but please show us what you've done!

Release Week at Inktegrity

Sniff...Sniff....Sadly this is my last new release for Inktegrity as a Design Team member. I will miss Joni & the Inky girls...these images have been so much fun to work with. On a brighter note, Joni used this release to create images that each of the design team members had requested...isn't that fun? Well, wayyyyyy back, I had mentioned to Joni that DD is into Poodles right now, so she created this poodle for her :) Isn't that sweet? Joni hadn't named her yet, so when DD saw the image she said she wanted to name her Pasha (after a long-haird chihuahua we met this summer LOL). So...please WELCOME Passha to the Inktegrity "family". I'm not sure why, but I instantly think of pink & black when I work with a poodle image. I had this great hot pink bag I wanted to recycle, so I printed Pasha out nice and big, and I "fuzzed" her up with FLOWER SOFT in bright pink. Here's the closeup of the Flower Soft and the little matching taggie.

Now...if you look really, really close at these pics you'll see that I also made some custom background paper to match Pasha. I simply changed the color of the "Oh Happy Day" sentiment to pink and repeated it in a tile pattern. This is one of the reasons I love digi!!! So easy to create a completely customized package. You could even wrap a small gift in this paper :) Or print it on tissue paper to peek out of the bag!

So, how would you like to win Pasha & her matching sentiments? All you have to do is leave me a comment on this post. I will announce the winner on Thursday October 15th when all of the new releases are available in the Inktegrity store. And if you check out the rest of the Design Team blogs you might just find some more blog candy along the way ;)

Christmas Stepper Card

For those of you who are local, this is one of the cards I will be demonstrating/teaching at The Cutting Garden on Wednesday October 14! There's still room to register. This card featured the new Patterned Pines hostess set and Dasher, one of the really affordable stamps from the back page of the catalogue.

Corrosive Challenge

Janet's Corrosive challenge this week was to use a hot drink of some kind on your card. I combined it with the Color Challenge at SCS this week: Mellow Moss, White and taupe (I used Sahara Sand dp from To the Nines). The sentiment on the inside says "The Perfect Blend".

Color Dare a Little Late

I'm late with my Color Dare even though it's been done for 2 weeks! I'm so used to having everything scheduled to post, that I forgot I hadn't scheduled this one yet LOL. Anyhow... I did two cards using this week's colors: Elegant Eggplant, Creamy Caramel, Pumpkin Pie and Always Artichoke..

For this card, I used my SU pastels with a sponge dauber to color the main panel with a variety of the colors. I felt this wasn't the best representation of the colors, so I tried again with the first card.

Birthday Blog Candy Winner

Sorry I'm late announcing the Inktegrity Blog Candy winner...I forgot about it because it's just soooo crazy busy here this week! Anywho, the first winner was Lori, but she's already got this prize, so the second random pick is megsmome #1! Megsmome please send me an e-mail at ahovey (at) eastlink (dot) ca to claim your prize!

Christmas is Coming!

If you're looking for a special card to make for your family & friends, why not try this really simple, but impressive, stand-alone special fold? It's called a Tri-Fold Shutter card and it really is much simpler than it looks...and it's a great way to use up scraps of leftover paper. The hardest part about this card was getting the ornament to hang straight! I will be demonstrating this special fold at my November workshops...if you'd like to see just how easy it is, contact me to book your next Stampin Up! workshop today!

World Card Making Day Cards

Happy World Card Making Day!

Yes, I really have spent all afternoon working on some cards to celebrate. There are lots of challenges on Facebook, PCP and SCS if you're looking for some inspiration. The card above is done with the FREE digi image that Joni is giving you on her blog today! Aren't the ladybugs adorable? I got my CardMaker magazine the other day and as soon as I saw Tami's sketch in the back I knew I was going to make this card today.

This card I did for the first WCMD Challenge at SCS...to use a quote as the focal point.

And this one I did for the Stamping Bella challenge to be inspired by the 80's!

Anyone for a Corrosive Anya?

This card uses the Anyone for Anya sketch for this week as well as Janet's Corrosive Challenge color combo: Melon Mambo and Kiwi Kiss. Do you think I over-blinged??? I just couldn't seem to stop! I've been stocking up on self-adhesive rhinestones and I managed to find a package of black ones the other day. I couldn't wait to use them, so I had to add some black mats to this card so the black rhinestones would fit in!

The "trick" to this sketch was that the sentiment was supposed to be sideways... hmmm...luckily I have the newly released Digiments get well sentiments. This is just one of 30 sentiments Michelle released last week... and the best part about them??? You can quickly size them to any size you need...so it was very simple to get exactly the size I needed for this card. And since the fonts Michelle used are clean and bold, it's easy to read side-ways :) Don't forget, this month Michelle is donating half of all sales to Travelling Mama!

Fall Fun with Inktegrity and Birthday Blog Candy!

Whooo Hooo! Today is my BIRTHDAY! And Joni, being the generous soul that she is, wanted to help me celebrate by having a new release at Inktegrity today :) Not only are we celebrating the new release, but Joni will give one lucky commenter on THIS post the entire Fall Shape Ups release...hey wait a minute...it's MY Birthday and YOU get the gifts??? Full deets on the blog candy are at the end of the post, but don't forget the comment link is at the TOP of the post on my blog :) You don't know how funny it is sometimes when I read a comment and it's for the wrong card.

Today is another release in the Fall Shape Ups line at Inktegrity. You can check out the blog for great samples from other DT members with an acorn, scarecrow, apple pie and more...but I got to play with the Fall Leaf from this collection.

This Fall Leaf image was perfect for the "Serendipity" technique with my Cuttlebug. After I embossed with the Leafy Screen folder, I "gilded" the edges with gold embossing powder for a rich, regal look.

For this card, I used up lots of scraps of printed papers in great fall colors to create the wreath.

Believe it or not, it really didn't take that long to cut out all the leaves...Joni has designed her Fall Shape Ups to be really easy to cut out...even your kids could do this!

Finally, I created a little place card for a Thanksgiving table. Canadian Thanksgiving is just 2 weeks away and if you're the Martha Stewart type, then you need to get going on your decor...this little card was super easy.

Don't forget to check out the Inktegrity blog today to find out who won the Recipe Challenge! Was it YOU?

Birthday Blog Candy

And leave your comment on this post (LINK IS AT THE TOP ON MY BLOG) for your chance to win! If you blog about the release & candy, you can leave a second comment (with a link to the post please) for a second chance to win! And if you choose to follow the Inktegrity Blog, or are already a follower, you may leave a third comment! Yup, 3 chances to win! Blog Candy will close on Sunday Oct 4 and I will choose a winner by Random.org on Monday morning!
