Color Dare 18

WHEW...this was a hard one for me. I'm not sure I totally pulled it off... I think I need to find a Red Hatter to send it to LOL. CD18 was to use So Saffron, Bashful Blue, Lavender Lace and Real Red. WOW... I'd love to see what you create with these colors. And if you haven't heard, the Color Dare is getting it's very own BLOG this week...check it out, become a follow and WIN!
What do you think of my new little watermark? Can you see it? Does it need to be darker? I was messing around the other day and decided it was time I had one.
Check back later this week as I have a couple of big announcements to share :)

Ketto Blog Hop

Welcome to the Ketto Blog Hop...if you're looking for the Modern Sugar Blvd. new release info, please scroll down for my next post! If you're just joining in. please go back to the start of the Ketto Hop, to Nickabella's Blog... if you've come to me from Carisa's Blog, then you're on the right track!

Here's my latest Ketto Card, featuring Lucy Ketto! I did this one for one of the card challenges over at Stampin Out Alzheimer's. The challenge was to use Pink & Brown and only two types of embellishments! I've been on quite a scrappy clean up binge lately, so the DP is scraps of Candy Lane by SU that I had in my scrap pile...I love it when that happens and I always go through my scrap pile before cutting a new piece of paper...but it doesn't seem to be helping me cut down my scrap pile LOL

Thanks for stopping by! Now, hop on over to Dana's Blog for some more inspiration! And if you get an extra minute today, please place your vote at Southern Bella, for their June Featurebella.

Modern Sugar Blvd Release Day

As promised, here is my final creation for today's big release at Modern Sugar Blvd. I decided that Precious Dance Scene was the perfect image to grace a CD Holder full of 50's music...maybe this is a gifty for a girly party? Or a pick me up for a girlfriend? Or a Mix CD for your hunny LOL Do people still make "mix tapes" (of course it was tapes in my day). I got the instructions for the CD Holder at Scor Pal and it was super easy to make...it's the decorating that takes the time!

Here's the CD Holder opened up... Lots of room to list the songs on either side...or add a photo of the sock hop, perhaps? Or even a gift card! So versatile.

Ok...so now you've seen all of my new release creations...which one can you NOT live without? At these prices why not buy them all! LOL Head on over to MSB to pick up your new releases and to the blog to check out the rest of the Sugars' creations for some more sugarlicious inspiration!

Sugarlicious Releases at MSB

Do you ever look at all the cool, funky, brightly colored rain boots they have for kids and wish you could have a pair? Well, here are the rain boots for you...they come in ANY color combo you like...change them to fit your mood! Feet swelling? Make them bigger. Head on over to Modern Sugar Blvd. tomorrow to get your own pair of funky rain boots.

I used a sketch on the Stampin Out Alzheimer's site. The sentiment is from Paper Makeup Stamps. Now, not only can you pick up these cute designer rain boots tomorrow, but you can also grab these cute images being released.

This is I Totally Support You...check out what the DT has done with this image... she's very versatile! My DDs and I say this all the time with our arms wide open...I thought of that immediately when I saw the image...this will be a great card to praise them for something I'm proud of very soon :) This sentiment is my very own creation! I think I've finally figured out how to make them pretty LOL

And this scrumptious guy is Mr. Devil's Food Cake...make sure you have a look for his wifey, too :) Come back tomorrow for the last creation I have for this big release with Modern Sugar and don't miss out on your chance to win the entire new release...all you have to do is submit a card made with any MSB image!

My first Flourishes!

I have been absolutely DROOLING over this Siberian Iris set from Flourishes since it was introduced...I just never had a chance to order from them...UNTIL I won a gift certificate at their last SCS Release party...so I took full advantage and ordered this, the daffodil set that I also have coveted and their new DIY Topiary release. And so far, I LOOOOVE them. These will be great sets to practice my watercoloring techniques on.

Part of the reason I love Siberian Iris is that, like the Forget Me Nots, it reminds me of my Grandmother... when she died I was able to pull some Iris shoots/roots/whatever, from her back garden and while many other things in my garden die out after a couple of years these things grow and spread like weeds. It seems every year I have to split them again and now I have "my grandmother's" Irises growing in all of my gardens.
This was a card I made for Stampin Out Alzheimers' Verve Sketch Challenge. There's still a couple of days to join in and play over there... and there are great prizes up for grabs... I won a full sheet of Faerie Song Art Stamps yesterday! Just for playing along!

Surgarlicious Sneaky Peek

Here's a little peeky poo at a new image being released on Saturday at Modern Sugar Blvd. Come back tomorrow to see the whole creation and don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's blogs for inspiration on Saturday.

In the mean time...here's a full card I CAN show you...wouldn't you just love to jump into a nice hot bubble bath right now? Ohhhhh I soooo would, but I'm soooo busy I can't seem to take the time! There's just too many things going on in card making land this week... Stampin Out Alzheimer's, MSB's big release on May 30th (oooohhhh have I got some cool things to show you for THAT), and all the other usual challenges I like to check out... This image is from the Precious line at Modern Sugar.

Bright & Sunny Card

I pulled this image out of my stash to see what I could do with it. I have been practising my watercoloring with blender pens & ink puddles. The layout is an old MOJO sketch. This combo is Color Dare 15: Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point and Summer Sun. WOWZA that sounds bright, doesn't it? Well it certainly is bright, but I LOOOOVE this card. I have to quote one of my stamping idols at this point--JanTink--"Isn't it stinkin GOJUS? YILM" I plan to pull out the rest of this image and make a whole set of this card I love it so much. Am I crazy?

Forget Me Not

The other day I took a walk in my PITIFUL garden...out back I have this little "thing" I planted last year with perennial splits from my very successful gardening friend. She gave me a whole garden's worth of stuff...lillies in several colors, violas, geraniums, and Forget Me Nots. So far, just the violas and Forget Me Nots are blooming. Besides being so blue & pretty...Forget Me Nots remind me of my Grandmother. She used to have them growing along the side of her house. Today, they are a symbol of Alzheimer's Awareness and Sweet & Sassy Stamps designed a beautiful Forget Me Not set that all participants in Stampin Out Alzheimers can download it for FREE. If you haven't joined in the fun yet, there's still lots of time...just click on the blinkie to the left.

Light Up for Summer

Isn't this just a gorgeous summery little set of candles? This is one of The Greeting Farm's stamp sets that is on my wish list...I was lucky enough to receive an image in an SCS swap recently and decided to use the image for a Stampin Out Alzheimer's sketch challenge this week. This sketch was sponsored by Sweet n Sassy Stamps.

Corrosive Challenge Ian

WOW...my second Ian in two weeks...what's going on here...there are no little boys in my life...what do I need with boy cards??? Well, after I posted my First Ian Card last week, Janet, over at Corrosive Challenge thought it would be funny to challenge us to use the colors Kraft, Red & Black... WAITAMINUTE....those are the colors I used last week on Ian... I think she's just trying to confuse me... ANYHOW... I had just enough scraps of that same dp left over to pull off this cutie pie card. Haven't a clue what I'll use it for, but it's pretty cute :) I know the black part of the equation is pretty slim on this one, but there is a bit there LOL.

Stampin Out Alzheimers

Have you signed up to help Stamp Out Alzheimers yet? WHY NOT? This week, Jen Tapler has organized a fantabulous fundraiser full of card and scrapbooking challenges, freebies, downloads and PRIZES! Many of your favorite companies are sponsoring challenges over there and it's all for a GREAT cause. My Grandfather is in the very early stages of Alzheimers...he still drives most of the time, works around the house, teases my Grandmother...but there are days that he doesn't remember what happened yesterday. He's relatively healthy otherwise, so I know we've got a long road ahead of us with this disease and I want to do my part to find treatments and a cure.
This was the card I made for the MOJO Monday sketch challenge. Julee Tilman has "donated" today's sketch to the cause and is offering a great prize to one lucky winner at SOA. I decided to do something a bit different...I went TOTALLY DIGI on this card. YES, that flower & button are digi elements. The papers, flower & swirly are all part of the FREE Mini Digital kit you can download when you join SOA. Wanna know what's great about this card...besides the sketch, that is... it's FLAT enough to mail for one stamp! All I have to do is print it out and add to a cardstock base. Oh...and the sentiment is this week's freebie Digiment from Michelle...go check that out too.
Now, if I've piqued your interest in SOA, please click on the blinkie to the left and check it out...it's a minimum donation of just $5 to join in the fun. And you have all week to play along in the challenges.

Orange Swap Cards

I signed up to do an "Orange" swap on SCS and these are the two cards I came up with. You may have noticed that I like orange in previous designs...so this one was right up my alley :) The first card features this week's FREE Digiment...such an easy way to make a card. I used Pumpkin Pie as my orange along with the DCWV Teen Stack dp.

The second card is my new Flutter Anya stamp from The Greeting Farm. And I used a tried and true layout from the first sketch challenge they had there, too....it just works soooo well for Anyas. This card features Tangerine Tango as the orange, with accents of Riding Hood Red. This dp is from my K&Co Hopscotch Boy stack.

Motivet Blog Candy

OMGosh....another cute stamp company...the growth in this industry is just mind-boggling isn't it? But look at these CCCCUUUUUUTTTTTTEEEE vintage-y looking animal stamps! And if you visit their website, you get a chance to win them ALL! Super D Duper!

Sugarlicious Saturday - MMmmmmm Something Smells Goo-ooood!

It's time for another Sugarlicious Saturday challenge for the Design Team at Modern Sugar Blvd. and this week we had some sweet smelling inspiration in the form of this yummy cuppie design. Check out the MSB site later today for the latest releases, and the Blog for more Sugarlicious inspiration from the DT.

Another new digi company & challenge blog

Have you heard of The Little Yellow Company yet? They've got a couple of cute digis up for sale already and are previewing one of the most awesomest ones I've seen yet...I think it's an Elton John image :) Check out their site...they're starting a challenge blog soon and releasing more images!

Howdy Chick

Here's another card I did to clean up some "schtuff"... the CB Floral Fantasy was already done, the image was something someone sent to me, and I used scraps for the mats! I sponged Chocolate Chip on the embossed BG to tone it down a bit. The image is colored with SU Markers and I hand wrote the sentiment (which is why it's sooooo bad LOL). This is a really cute image...hmmm....might have to go looking for this one.

Another SNEAKY PEEK

YAY! It's nearly the weekend! And what a busy one it's gonna be for me... the LSS (if you're local, see below) is having a Scrap Yard Sale and I'm taking a huge box of SCHTUFF in to try to sell, and hoping to pick up some deals while I'm there. Then DD's school fair is on, and I have offered to help out for a bit. The house has not been cleaned since we got back because I've been so darn sick, and then just hungover from being sick! Not to mention the gardens! AI YI YI! I doubt I'll get a lot of cardmaking done this weekend, but one can hope! In the meantime, here is a little sneak peek of my Sugarlicious Saturday Challenge Card for Modern Sugar Blvd. Mmmm....something smells GOOOOOOD!
LSS Scrap yard sale info for the Local Yokels:
The Cutting Garden is hosting a scrap yard sale on Saturday, May 22 10-4 at the Hammonds Plains Fire Hall. I have a ton of retired SU Stamp sets available...come check it out!

PMS Challenge

Just a quick post today...DD has an "all-day" appointment at the hospital today. Don't worry, it's not serious, it's just her yearly follow up at the Developmental Clinic. It's a long, stressful day, but at least it's not surgery or anything like that!

Anyhow, here's the card I made for this week's color challenge at PaperMakeup Stamps. Lisa McKinney challenged us to use Melon & Apple as colors...well, the closest I thought I had were Cameo Coral & Certainly Celery, so that's what I used. AND GUESS WHAT! This card was made for a specific person! Ok...pick yourself up off the floor... I need a birthday card for my 8 year old neice next week and thought these colors on a fairy would be perfect for her. She loves fairies, so she's SURE to love this card.

Stained Glass - Color Dare 17

This is one of those retired sets I stalked on ebay for a looooong time. I just needed to have it. I love the irises and the hummingbird in this set. I tried to make an Easter card with it, but it was U-G-L-Y so I didn't post it ;) Anyhow, I tried again recently and practiced my watercoloring with blender pens again. I'm soooo happy with the way this card turned out! I embossed the image in black ep with Versamark. It really helps to keep the watercolor in place...but be careful to not touch the embossing while your coloring...puddles of ink on the embossing will smuge on your fingers and then the paper...it can ruin a well colored image (speaking from experience, of course LOL).

Again, this card was a bit of a cleaner upper...the CB panel was already done and I used scraps for some of the mounts & the punches...and even the main image! The colors are Kiwi Kiss, Elegant Eggplant, Pink Pirouette and Rose Red this week's challenge at Riley's Color Dare.

New Releases at Modern Sugar Blvd.

Today is the day... Modern Sugar Blvd. will be releasing some great new Sugarliciousness later today! Here are two cards I've done with the new releases...aren't these images FABULOUS? Just look at the 'tude they're sporting. And for more inspiration, don't forget to hop over to the MSB Blog to see what other DT members have done with these images.

Fabulous Friend

Here's another card from my Card a Palooza binge last week... the card front was already made and just waiting for an image and sentiment...so it was a real quick one to finish :) Daisy's pants are Chocolate Chip...here is one instance when I wished I had (and knew how to use) Copics...the brown is just toooooo dark & opaque...and I've since seen this image done with brown copics and it looked great. Anyone giving away any copics??? LOL

And HEY! This card is not for ANY Challenges :)

My First Ian

This paper was just CALLING Ian's name. I had ONE image of Dress Up Ian from a swap and this paper was just perfect for the little rocker. I pulled out this image in the first place so I could participate over at the Corrosive Challenge again...haven't been there for a while...and this week was a Rock theme.

New Releases at MSB this week!

Aren't they "Charming"? They've got just a little bit of attitude, and I LIKE IT. Modern Sugar Blvd. is having a "mini release" on Wednesday...so come back here to see these creations, or check out the DT's creations on the MSB Blog. And don't forget there's a contest going on over at the blog...create a card and have a chance to win the ENTIRE NEW RELEASE on May 30th.

MAY VSN Cards

Ok...so I've been a member of Splitcoaststampers for like...three years...or so... and this is the first time I have played along with VSN (Virtual Stamp Night). It was soooo much fun. Every hour they list a new challenge and you have 45 minutes to complete a card, then 15 minutes for a bio break & clean up to get ready for the next challenge. The great part is that you can play any challenge you want, in any order at any time, so long as your card is uploaded by the deadline (Monday night). There are prizes and awards and...well, it was a lot of fun. Here are the cards I created last night...all of them in 45 minutes or less. This was a card full of firsts: First VSN, First time using this HM Stamp and First time doing spotlight technique...which I got a bit wrong :( HOWEVER, this card won me a free stamp set from Unity Stamp Co., which is very nice. The challenge was to use Spotlight technique and add some rhinestones (note the tiny twinkles on all the raindrops). My Ketto card was for the sketch challenge...it was supposed to resemble a slot machine since the theme for this VSN was Las Vegas... I REALLY like this card...except for the charm...it doesn't show up very well. This card was for the monochromatic green challenge...only green and a neutral. I made two of them because I had just enough of the dots dp and wanted to use it up. There are tiny twinkles around the sentiment too, which gives it a really nice, finished look.

This card was for the inspiration challenge, based on a Vegas wedding cake that was blue fondant with white accents. I heat embossed Baroque Motifs on Bashful Blue...took about 15 minutes to make this one...which was nice because it was nearly midnight for me by now. This was for the CSI Challenge... to use a frame on a card. I had these Unity Stamp Co sentiments from the Canadian Express Image Swap and it just seemed to be the perfect thing to frame. The chipboard frame is K&Co from last year's Christmas collection, and I just highlighted a few words with SU markers. EZPZ Lemon Squeezy :)

You still have time to play along today if you'd like. You have until tomorrow night to get your cards uploaded. Check it out!

MOJO Ketto

Did all you Ketto lovers sign up for the Stampin Bella Ketto Blog Hop yet? On May 30th I'll be joining other Ketto fans in a blog hop...anyone can join in...all you have to do is make a card with a Ketto image from Stampin Bella (a fab CANADIAN Company).

This is another quickie card I pulled together with some scraps sitting around (recognize that DP?) And this is a Ketto image I got from the Canadian Express Image Swap...so it was already stamped and waiting...makes for quick cards LOL I used the MOJO Monday sketch for this week.

Modern Sugar Challenge Day & New Releases

Today is Challenge Day over at Modern Sugar Blvd.! The new images are sooooo cute! When I saw these deer I KNEW I would have to make another stair step card. Now that I've done a few of these stepper cards I just LOOOOVE making them. The challenge today is to use at least one of the new images being released. I used two of them in this card.

For the deer, I flipped one deer and made it a bit smaller to resemble a fawn. I printed them on Creamy Caramel paper and colored in the dots with my Signo White gel pen. EZ PZ Lemon Squeezy (HA! I saw that on someone else's blog and thought it was funny...I've been saying it ever since). AND the beauty of this stair step card is that I kept it simple enough that I can actually mail it without worrying about crushing it, AND it's quite simple, so I can send it to anyone and not get totally upset if it's not sitting in their china cabinet in two years when I visit.

Now, don't forget to check out all the other Sugars' blogs today (list to the right) for more inspiration for these images, and a look at the other image I didn't use...or check out the MSB Blog later today to see them all in one place!

A few tidbits on the card...
I used Xmas Red stickles on the hat. The mountain background is a Doodlefactory stamp. The flowers were a pack of Jolees stickers I had lying around :)

Color Dare 16

I broke in Precious Coffee Shop from Modern Sugar Blvd. for this week's Color Dare challenge: Sage Shadow, So Saffron, Rose Red and neutrals. This latte-loving gal is sooooo me. I love me a latte...and my espresso machine broke this morning! ACK! The sentiment is computer generated. I printed the image right onto a piece of Raspberry Tart DP from SU. Then I printed the image again on Whisper White, heat set it, and colored with SU Markers & a Touch marker for the skin.

Modern Sugar Blvd. Sneak Peek

Here's a sneaky peek of my creation for this weekend's Modern Sugar Blvd. challenge. Lots of new releases coming your way this week. Don't forget to come back on Saturday to see the whole creation and to check out the MSB Sugars for more inspiration!

Caardvarks Challenge

Another Card a Palooza clean up card :) Had some scraps of this DP that I LOOOOVE and wanted to use a quote for the Caardvarks challenge and this is what I came up with. The ribbon actually has hot pink flowers on it, but it didn't photograph well. I think this quote makes a great Graduation card.

Card-a-palooza CLEAN UP!

No...I'm not hosting a card a palooza event or anything...but I have made a huge number of cards the last two days...nearly 20 I think! I'm on a roll! The clean up part is beause I am using up some DP scraps and already printed/stamped images...trying to clean up my space! Some of them are filed away for future use, some are gifts, but here's one I can show you today. I did this for The Digi Shack's color challenge: Navy, Brown, Black & Kraft. There's minimal black in this, but it's there!!! I had wanted to use a quote from Alice in Wonderland for this card, since it is The Greeting Farm's Alice Anya digi, but I couldn't find one that fit, so went with a Congrats card instead :)

PMS Release Party Sketch & Color Challenge

This is my submission for the PaperMakeup Stamps Release Party Sketch Challenge... I also used the colors for the color challenge, but I already submitted a card for that one :) You can find the challenges for this release party on the PMS website forums... just create an account and come play along! There are prizes involved!

He's Got High Hopes

When I saw this ant on the High Hopes web site a few months back I near FREAKED OUT! My sister and I have a history with the High Hopes ant & song... when we were kids we used to have to share a room when sleeping at my grandmothers and one night we got to giggling over this song so hard and long that we got in trouble :) Lucky for me, this stamp was a new release coming out and I just got it the other day! And they've come out with some other ants that I'll have to get soon too.

So now that I have a few (well, I couldn't buy just one stamp, now could I?) High Hopes stamps, I'm going to participate in their weekly challenges. This week we were to create a card for the guys... so I chose guy-like colors, but I'll probably send this one to my sister :) I seriously need to practice my watercoloring, tho... I didn't get the shading quite like I'd hoped.

SCS Color Challenge Cards

I couldn't resist the bright & sunny color combo Emily picked for today's color challenge at SCS. We were to use Only Orange, Summer Sun and Kiwi Kiss. Normally I would pair Pumpkin with that yellow & green, but this works well too. I liked it so much I did two. I was trying to clean up some printed digis today, so I picked up this 1/4 sheet Digiment sentiment I had leftover and added my colors with the leaves from Lexicon of Leaves, one of the new sets I just got last week. I also added these cute little leaf eyelets I had received in a goodie bag...but I must have had my cropadile set wrong...they didn't squish neatly :(

I liked this color combo so much on that stamp set that I made another card! This one is all Stampin Up!

Happy Mother's Day

Just a quick post today to say Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there. I wanted to post a cute pic of me & my daughters, but...ACCCCKKK I dont' seem to have one! Guess that will be my project for today :) If I can find the energy to take a shower & do my hair! We actually celebrated yesterday so we would miss the crowds at the restaurants... we went to Cora's for breakfast....mmmm....my fav breakfast place, and then because I was so sick at supper, we actually ventured out again for our favorite Chinese food at Hong's Kitchen. I know...I know... I shouldn't have gone out when I was so sick, but I couldn't cook... and honestly...neither can DH LOL We've been eating quick and easy food at home all week, so we needed real food today. I actually did go to the Dr. yesterday to get checked for Strep Throat...she wasn't totally convinced, but did a swap and gave me the penecillan just in case. I took two doses yesterday and this morning I feel SO MUCH better...so I hope it was strep and I'm not taking drugs for no reason.

On a HAPPIER note... to celebrate Mother's Day Modern Sugar Blvd. is having a sale! Today only you can purchase any of the cute digi images already released for 50% off! Now's your chance to try them out!

An Important Blogging Lesson Learned...and two quick cards!

So...I learned an important blogging lesson this morning... that super cool slide show I have down below for the PMS Friday Feature...well... when I created it, I didn't have my sound turned on...so I had no idea that it was blasting some kind of rap music at you everytime you clicked on my page!!! I'm soooo sorry. Had I known I would have changed the music to something more "ME"...LOL I only found out it was there because I had the sound turned on when I went to sign into my page today... I couldn't figure out where that rap was coming from...Tee Hee... So, the lesson is...always check for music when adding a slideshow!

OK...on to two cards. I did both of these in about an hour tonite while DH ran out to do a couple of quick errands. I knew when he came back he'd want to watch a movie and I wouldn't get any more crafting time today, AND the drugs were kicking in pretty good, so my throat wasn't too bad right then, so I scurried around to put these two goodies together.

This is another entry into the Digiments Challenge Michelle is having. Have I mentioned that I LOVE this concept? This card was sooooo quick. I just printed the digiment on a quarter sheet, trimmed it down, stamped Lovely as a Tree in Creamy Caramel, added some mats & ribbon and VOILA! A quick and simple and perhaps even MASCULINE card! Would you believe I just got Lovely as a Tree last week? It was one of those sets I knew I should have, but just never seemed to order. I have sooo many plans for it, you're gonna be sick of it in a couple of weeks :)

Now this card is for the PaperMakeup Stamps Release Party Challenge (you can find all the challenges in the Forums on the store site). This challenge was to use the colors Black, Grey, White and a soft blue. They suggested Baja or Bashful blue, but I found this beautiful toile paper in my stash and it called for Bordering Blue, so that's what I used. I also had to go with Vanilla because printed paper was Vanilla, not white...but I still think I qualify. This card wasn't at all what I planned to do for the challenge...but I quite like it. I'm going to try to do another one with the REAL colors because I think it's just a beautiful serene combo.

The Gift of Love

How appropriate to receive The Gift of Love award the day before Mother's Day :) Except it didn't come from my Mom or my daghters...just a great cyber friend Cassie who's been super-supportive of my cardmaking & blogging since she "discovered" me. I'm supposed to share this award with 5 blogger friends...I keep choosing the same people over and over and they might be getting tired of me giving them awards, but here goes:
Katie (thanks for all your kind words and more this week especially)
Dawn (for the constent encouragement)
Michelle (for the kind encouragement for the future)
Michelle (just for making me giggle on a daily basis)
Rachel (because I think she needs a little love right now :) )

Modern Sugar Blvd. Challenge

Check out the Modern Sugar Blvd. STORE and BLOG today for new releases and a challenge. The Design Team all used this cutie pie image, a sketch and a color combo to make our cards and you wouldn't believe how different they all look! Make sure you check out the deets on the blog later...I'm on the far east coast, so it's not up quite yet :)
